Please use the css code for remove black overlay from header image. Go customize-> custom css and paste the code.

First need to deactivate Gallery Box free version then active pro version. I hope everything will be fine.

You may not properly deactivated the theme from local server. Could you please try to deactivate theme again, I hope everything will be fine.

You may use Gallery Box plugin shortcode with WPBakery page builder and I think it will be work fine.
