Widget interations and sort order mastering in Blog display

Adding to Monica Brady’s https://wpthemespace.com/forums/topic/blog-post-posted-date-updated-date/, I am facing a sort order issue while intending to use “metadata”, in case Event Date from a Calendar widget.
The widget works properly displaying events list in chronological order of Event Date, but if the events are posted in the Blog, the sort order is based on the Posted Date which is not convenient in the case of a shared WP Website, as we manage it.
That was the case before and still after migrating to WP 5.7, any suggestion welcome
